RAMS is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to providing veterans and military servicemembers with employment opportunities as a sports official.

MISSION & HISTORY.

Given the nationwide shortage of sports officials and challenges with financial security amongst veterans and military servicemembers, Daniel Stevens, President & CEO, saw an opportunity to combine his love for sports, passion for officiating, and military service together to create RAMS.

Referee Association of Military Servicemembers (RAMS) is a 501c3 nonprofit focused on filling the sports officiating shortage by recruiting veterans and military servicemembers (SM) to train as sports officials.

Our mission is to use the experience and toughness of SMs and veterans to mold them into high quality sports officials, while also providing supplemental sources of income.

Financial instability impacts both veterans and SMs where 90% of active duty SMs worry about finances, and 30% can’t pay their bills on time. Additionally, the average SM can only survive for three months after leaving the military, and often find themselves with two times the amount of debt as their civilian counterparts.

Officiating helps solve both of these problems. Young athletes are able to play the sports they love, and veterans and SMs have an opportunity to earn an extra $80 per day to exercise.
